CHATEAU DU GRAND PUCH
Built in the 13th century by Gailhard du Puch, chateau du grand Puch passed by marriage in 1572 into the Ségur family, who owned it for more than two centuries. With its wide moat carved out of the rock, its high walls crowned by a corbelled wall passage, its towers, conical roofs, curious ill-matched gables and staircases set in the thickness of the walls, chateau du Grand Puch has retained the features of an ancient lordly manor despite successive restoration work. According to Léo Drouyn, the scholarly author of "la Guyenne Militaire", it is one of the best architecturally preserved 13th century monuments in the Gironde department. The surrounding heathland with its ancient trees, makes this estate one of the most attractive wine growing properties in the region.
